South Dublin Islamic Centre
Subject: Temporary Closure of the South Dublin Islamic Centre (SDIC) start today at 5 pm
Dear Community Members,
It is with deep regret that we inform you of the temporary closure of the South Dublin Islamic Centre (SDIC) following a recent visit by the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Fire Department, which was attended by representatives of both the fire authority and SDIC management.
During this visit, the fire department outlined a number of critical fire safety requirements that must be addressed before the centre can reopen for public use. These include, but are not limited to:
- Installation of a compliant fire detection and alarm system
- Provision of adequate fire safety equipment and signage
- Implementation of appropriate fire protection measures, including structural and passive fire safety provisions
- Installation of emergency lighting in accordance with safety standards
These measures are essential to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all who use the centre. SDIC management fully supports the recommendations made and has committed to working diligently to address each requirement in full compliance with current fire safety regulations and best practices.
We understand that this closure will cause inconvenience to many, and we sincerely apologise for any disruption. However, the health, safety, and protection of our community remains our highest priority. We ask for your understanding and support during this period as we carry out the necessary improvements.
Further updates will be provided as progress is made. We look forward to welcoming you back to the centre once it is safe to do so.
With kind regards,
SDIC Management

“Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?” This is your chance, dear brothers and sisters, to earn the reward of participation, remembering His words: “The mosques of Allah are only maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided.” And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, even if it be tiny like the nest of a sparrow, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
